Another week is ahead of us again, starting today. I honestly cannot believe that another weekend has come and gone. I am in 150% in support of a 3-day weekend. Seriously!!! How awesome would that be??? I would happily work 4-10s. Anyone else on board? Let's petition! haha

I am feeling quite a bit better since last week. My cold is finally leaving, thank goodness!!! I can't wait to be able to kiss my baby again. It's been really tough to keep my face away from his and to barely breathe on him and all the precautionary measures that it takes to keep B healthy. He seems to have a little bit of a cough but the runny nose that I saw only lasted one morning. I am wondering if it would be a good idea to put a humidifier in our bedroom at nighttime as it is quite dry in our house right now. I'm thinking it might help with B's little cough? Thoughts? Anyone else use a humidifier with their little ones??

We are working on tummy time but it hasn't gotten remarkably better yet. B always puts his arms behind his body instead of keeping them up front and that really limits his being able to hold his poor little head up. Actually, his head isn't that little at all... I understand why it's such a struggle to lift it up! The head is heavy!!! Hopefully he will get stronger and figure out how to keep his hands up front. Let's just say M&D&B do not look forward to tummy time at all.

I was reading in a baby mag about how giving baby Tylenol when they get vaccinated could lessen the effectiveness of the vaccine. I'm thinking this next time around we won't give him any and see how it goes. Last time we did give him a little bit (after clearing through his Doc) just before his actual appointment and we did give him a little bit that night and the day after the fact. I'm hoping we can go without so that all the hurt isn't in vain!

Does anyone have any tips on increasing breastmilk supply? It's not that I don't have enough, but I wish that I had more than enough. I froze one bag on Saturday thinking that I was ahead enough but then yesterday I wasn't sure that I would have enough for daycare today. I usually am bad and sleep through the night (as my WONDERFUL husband would get up with B) and not pump for 7 sometimes 8 hours. I know, not good for the supply so last night I got up in the middle of the night to pump. I didn't get nearly as much as I would as it was only 4 hour intervals opposed to my normal 5 or 6 hour intervals but I still think I got a little bit more than I would if I were to have only pumped once, does that make sense? So as much as I hate dragging my butt out of bed in the middle of the night... I think I need to start doing it every night. I know that breastmilk is truly the best for B, but it is hard work!!! I need to give myself props for having only given B breastmilk up until now and am hoping that it can continue until at least his 6 month birthday. I think it's really working for B too, because his thighs are definitely showing it!!! :-)

B has always been a wonderful baby and we are truly grateful for that. He barely cries and is so happy most of the time. On Saturday night it was a completely different story. We're not totally sure what was wrong but B was waililng. He didn't want to go to sleep so I breastfed him a little bit and he fell fast asleep, but not for long. He woke up crying, and crying loud. Very similar to the cry when he got his shots. Heartbreaking loud. He wouldn't take the paci, it seemed like nothing would soothe him. I flipped him on his belly in my arms and held him like that and he finally calmed down and fell asleep again. Once flipped over, the crying ensued. I think he had a bad tummy ache but we could not burp or roll it out. Poor Baby!!! Does anyone have any tips on dealing with a bad tummy? Patrick & I went over in our heads what may have caused this, but we don't recall my having eaten anything strange. Last night he slept like a champ... from about 1030-5. Let's hope this continues!

I hope everyone had good weekends. I try to post more often but I tend to find there is not enough time in a day for everything I need to do or want to do. I did get my nails painted for Easter though. Yay!

The weather is supposed to be in the 70's this week. I can't wait!!!

  1. Ug I just posted a long comment and it didn't go through :(

    Basically it said...

Have you tried Mother's Milk tea? It really helps. I took it for awhile. There is also a pill your Dr. can prescribe you to increase your milk.

Btw, don't worry about tummy time. Makayla used to hate it and was terrible at it, then one time I put her down and she could suddenly hold her head up. Give your LO time.

Also, I'm very impressed your working fulltime and giving your baby 100% breastmilk. I'm not sure I could do that! Good for you

  2. About wanting to increase your supply - basically what my lactation consultant had me do was take an herbal supplement called More Milk Special Blend, as well as pumping after every feeding. I would say that the herb alone, though, would do just fine - my supply was just low. You can get it at Motherlove.com, or any local maternity boutique usually. I recommended it to a girlfriend and it's worked for her as well :)

With regards to his tummy, have you tried gas drops or gripe water? Also, a warm bath can do wonders!

    Hope this helps!

  3. Do you drink coffee? I found that my milk production skyrockets (like, at least double) when I do. Even when I cut it 50/50 with decaf. I'm not too worried about caffeine in the milk because I drink a cup right after pumping and by the time my next pumping rolls around it has been 2-3 hours.

You can get fenugreek capsules at GNC, co-ops, and health food stores. That can help too if you're not into drinking gallons of mother's milk tea.

When Lily had gas I would hold her kind of over my shoulder so her tummy was being gently pressed by the front of my shoulder. That got the burps right out.

Hooray for good weather! It's supposed to be nice here in Missouri as well.

Hunter doesn't really like tummy time either, but he tolerates it for a little while.

As far as the bmilk, no tips really to increase supply, but good for you for keeping up with it for so long! I had to quit around 10-12 weeks due to not having time to pump, and I miss it every day. =( Good job lady!

  5. I'm glad you're feeling better. I am all for using a humidifier. We have used one every night almost since day one. We also have a fan on. I was told to use both and thought it seemed to be a bit much, but the fan helps to reduce the risk of asthma and sids so I'm all for it!

Congrats on the breastfeeding. I have also exclusively breastfed and I'm really proud of that. It was easy while I was home but being back at work is really hard. I already pump 3 times a day at work and have just added a morning session before leaving. I make just enough for Jack to have at daycare the next day. Ugh. I have heard of pumping after every nursing session or simply adding another pumping session somewhere. After awhile, your body will make milk in anticipation for that session. I've thought about adding a session before going to bed, but I don't think I would be able to get up in the middle of the night to pump. I guess if it came right down to it I would, but I'd be miserable! I can't believe you do that! Breastfeeding and pumping take a lot of dedication! I hope it continues to work for you. I am also hoping to make it to 6 months and hopefully longer. We can do this!

Congrats on the sleep too! It's so nice getting those longer stretches!

Hooray for warm weather! We're supposed to see the 80's this weekend. Woohoo!
